The Secondary examination Station

We will facilitate trade for importers, particularly those dealing with produce, by establishing a unified inspection experience at the Secondary Examination Station. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CBP to transfer part of their operations to the station, ensuring unified cargo processing for all imports at a cold storage facility. This will minimize produce handling and reduce inspection times with CBP, CBP agriculture, and USDA inspectors present at the Secondary Examination Station's cold storage facility.

The Administration Division for the Development Services Department provides support to the Building Safety, Code Enforcement, Planning & Zoning, and Health & Food Safety Divisions, oversees the City’s Wellness Improvements Program, and provides staff support to Boards and Commissions.

WHAT IS A BUILDING PERMIT?

A building permit is required for any construction that physically changes or adds structures to a property. Building can begin if, and only if, a building permit is issued. The building permit expires after 180 calendar days, unless construction continues, or an extension is granted.

The Code Enforcement Division is committed to safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of Roma’s cherished citizens. The Planning and Zoning Division shapes growth and development in line with our community's vision by implementing Roma's comprehensive plan, zoning ordinances, and subdivision ordinances. Our mission includes providing public information to applicants and evaluating applications for land subdivision, site development, variances, easements, and zoning. This ensures the city's development aligns with our shared vision for a harmonious, compliant, and vibrant community.

The Health and Food Safety Division is dedicated to ensuring the well-being of the Roma community through a range of essential responsibilities. We conduct inspections in strict accordance with Texas State Laws for a variety of food service establishments, investigate health-related complaints promptly, and conduct comprehensive plan reviews for new and remodeled facilities to uphold stringent health and safety standards for Roma’s residents and visitors.
